About Animal Sense

Each session is led by Harriet Harrison, a highly experienced Accredited Professional Coach with The British Horse Society who has spent the last ten years focussing on a deeper understanding of the positive theraputic impact of being with animals in nature has on mental health. Trained in Equine Facilitated Learning and fully updated on Safeguarding practice, Mental Health Awareness, Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences she is passionate about continuing to develop a centre that welcomes all ages and abilities. She also works part time as a Learning Support Assistant for 11–16-year-olds supporting for Maths and English GCSE.

Harriet spent the early part of her career as a professional, event rider and coach working as radio and tv commentator before taking a step back to raise her own children, and then she found her passion lay in supporting young people with the challenges of mental health.

Along side Animal Sense Harriet continues to coach and train people with their own horses for completion and an improved connection when riding.

Animal Sense was born from a small Shetland herd bred locally, and has now progressed to incorporating Dartmoor ponies and goats.
